iJoy 300 Review

I had heard that the iJoy 300 was one of the better bang-for-its-buck massage chair out in the market right now so I decided to try one of these at a nearby Brookstones inside a local mall. Without even looking at the brochure, I hopped right into it to give it a try.

Probably the first thing I noticed was simply the discomfort of just sitting on this rather undersized chair. While most massage chairs are sure to offer spacious room to sit on and relax, the iJoy 300 was a bit small and cramped even for my average-sized body.

I proceeded to test the functionality and features the chair had to offer. There were four modes or options of massage: Kneading, Compression, Percussion, and Rolling -- all of which were too strong for my liking. And unfortunately, it didn't allow its user to adjust the level and intensity of the massage. It does feature "pin-point" massage meaning you can "pin-point" or set the rollers exactly where you want them to massage. But I found that even when the rollers were pounding on the "sweet" spot on my lower shoulders, it eventually became tedious and almost uncomfortable simply because it was too strong. The reclining was less than average only allowing up to 155 degrees which was a bit disappointing as well.

The iJoy 300 is only available in two colors: cashew and black so it may not accommodate every room in the house. And while it does offer wheels for easy mobility and a child safety lock for safety precautions, that's just about all it has to give in addition to the essential functionality of the chair. A separate ottoman is also available for if you throw in another $249.00 but you'd be better off without it unless you enjoy constraining your legs into a small leg cushion and having irritating rollers pinching your legs to a point where you'd rather just do without it.

While the iJoy 300 is priced considerably less than other competing massage chairs in the market, the quality and functionality doesn't measure up to other leading brands and is simply less than adequate. That might also explain its disappointing 1-year warranty. In summary, unless you're a relatively petite person and you don't mind an overpowering massage, spend a little extra money and get yourself a chair that is more suitable for the common user.
